To the editor:
Growing up in Hammonton, I've seen a lot of business come and go.
I remember Kessler Clothing and Whitehall labs, and now that Kessler Memorial Hospital and Patriot Windows are dissolving into memory, I'm beginning to understand Hammonton's latest threat.
I don't want Hammonton to become a "Remember when..." town. I don't want us to feel that our best days are behind us. Most importantly, I don't want us to lose faith in the future of our town.
When I'm elected to Town Council, this is what I will do to restore every Hammontonian's faith in our economic future. I will focus on improving agriculture, energy and healthcare in order to bring better ratables and new jobs to Hammonton.
I will work with our town employees to provide cost-effective services to all citizens.
Lastly, I will help Hammontonians who have slipped through the cracks: special-needs individuals, shut-ins and veterans.
These are lofty goals. That is why it is imperative that we elect this year's entire Democratic ticket -- Joe Ingemi for mayor, and Mike Ammirato, Jim Scarpato and I for Town Council.
Together, we can work to provide Hammontonians with a government that is receptive to new, fresh ideas. Building a better future for our town will not be easy but, if my life experience has taught me anything, it's that a combination of hard work, self-discipline and clarity of mind can overcome any obstacle. Now that we understand our goals, let's all work together to bring Hammonton into the 21st century.
