Hammonton GOP Plays Politics at Taxpayers Expense
Hammonton, New Jersey While the Mayor and Council have ignored requests for information about a multi-million dollar project, the local GOP appears oblivious to the risk that taxpayers face. Democratic Mayoral Candidate Joe Ingemi requested information on the details of the project. Rather than join Mr. Ingemi and his team in a bi-partisan effort to protect taxpayers, the GOP tried to score cheap political points for their faltering campaign.
The local GOP attacked the Mr. Ingemi and his team. The GOP felt that seeking the truth on behalf of taxpayers is simply being negative. The GOP team, through their spokesman, went as far as to falsely claim the Democratic Team was suing the Town.
Mr. Ingemi stated, Words cannot express my disappointment in our Republican counterparts. I always felt that though our party labels differed, we were all committed to lifting the veil of secrecy and to protecting the taxpayer. Based on recent statements, I guess that was a wrong assumption. It is sad to see candidates subscribing to such go-along to get-along attitude when taxpayers are being denied information. I just hope that the GOPs spokesman was speaking only for himself.
The Hammonton Democrats are running this year on a platform that emphasizes economic development, smarter spending and greater government accountability. For more information on the candidates and their platform, visit www.hammontondems.org.
